FOUR GOAL FIRST LIFTS MUSKIES TO WIN
Musketeers Jump Out of Gate In Consecutive Win over Stampede
Sioux City, IA (November 12th, 2022) - The Musketeers stormed out of the opening puck drop with a four goal first period and kept the foot on the gas pedal en route to a 5-1 win over the Sioux Falls Stampede.
Colin Kessler got the scoring barrage started at the 6:17 mark of the first with his third goal of the season.
At the 14:17 mark of the period Tomek Haula slid a perfect pass across the goal crease and Garrett Brown finished in the wide open net for his first tally of the season to give the Musketeers a 2-0 lead.
Less than two minutes later Kaden Shahan on a two on one ripped a shot that found the back of the net to give Sioux City a 3-0 lead.
Perhaps the most surprising goal of the night came off the stick of Ryan Conmy who netted his team leading eighth. On the power play and time winding down in the first period, Conmy tossed a backhander towards the net, which got past the Stampede net minder and capped off the Musketeers impressive first period at 4-0.
The Musketeers had a man advantage early in the second period and once again took advantage on a Sam Deckhut goal and took a 5-0 lead at the 1:44 mark of the second period.
Sioux City went two for three on the power play in the victory and out shot Sioux Falls 43 to 30.
Muskies goal tender Croix Kochendorfer was awarded the first star by stopping 29 of 30 shots and picked up the win.
Sioux City will cap off a three game weekend with a Sunday matinee against Des Moines at the Tyson Events Center with puck drop scheduled for 3:05 pm.
