Musketeers Shut Down in Omaha
Omaha, NE (December 16th, 2022) - The Sioux City Musketeers were consistently turned away by Michael Hrabal in a 1-0 loss to the Omaha Lancers. It was the first time this season the Musketeers were shutout.
Hrabal collected his fifth win of the season and his second shut out as he stopped all 28 shots that he faced. Including a flurry of attempts from the Musketeers in the final minutes of the game. Through two games versus Sioux City the Omaha net minder has stopped 63 of 66 shots for a .955 Save % and a 1.49 GAA.
His counterpart, Muskies goal tender Axel Mangbo, despite taking the loss, was also on the top of his game. He made 31 of 32 saves in the contest and it was the third time this season that he has allowed just a single goal in a start.
The lone goal of the game came at the 14:48 mark of the first period on the third goal of the campaign by Aleksi Kivioja.
Sioux City never found the back of the net even with the aid of four first penalty power plays. Neither team lit the lamp on the man advantage as the Muskies went 0/4 and Omaha went 0/3.
The Musketeers (11-8-3) continue their road trip on Saturday night in Des Moines with puck drop against the Buccaneers set for 6:05 pm. Sioux City returns home on December 30th when they face the Madison Capitols in a rematch of last season's Clark Cup Finals.
