Black Hawks Control Game as Muskies Fall on Road
Sioux City, IA (January 6th, 2023) - In the first matchup between the Sioux City Musketeers and Waterloo Black Hawks was controlled by Waterloo as they won the contest 4-2.
The Black Hawks found the only goal of the first period with Gavin Lindberg scoring his sixth of the season at the 11:36 mark of the first period and gave Waterloo a 1-0 lead.
Sioux City briefly tied the game at one on a power play goal off a puck that deflected off of Tyler Hotson's shoulder giving him his ninth goal of the season at the 2:38 mark.
But Waterloo struck for a pair of goals less than a minute later. Myles Hilman notched his tenth of the season at the 3:13 mark of the period and Caden Brown scored his first of the campaign just 17 seconds later and gave Waterloo a 3-1 lead.
The Black Hawks put the game away win the third with a Gavin O'Connell goal at 12:03 in the third. Easton Zueger added a goal with under a minute to play on a slap shot to give the game it's final score of 4-2.
Waterloo out shot the Musketeers 36 to 26, the Musketeers did not hit double digits in any of the periods in the shot column. The Muskies did kill all four penalties against them and went 1/2 on the power play.
The Black Hawks and Musketeers will face off again on Saturday at the Tyson Events Center with puck drop at 6:05 pm.
