Sioux City Defeats I-29 Foe on Pink in the Rink Night
Sioux City, IA (October 22nd, 2022) - The color of the ice may have changed but the outcome for the Sioux City Musketeers remained the same this weekend as they completed their second consecutive win with a 3-2 victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede.
The scoring opened up at the 14:03 mark of the first period when Musketeers forward Ben Poitras ripped a shot past the Sioux Falls net minder to give Sioux City a 1-0 lead.
Kaden Shahan followed over five minutes later in the final minute of the first at the 19:22 mark with his team leading fifth goal of the campaign to give Sioux City a 2-0 lead.
The Musketeers kept Sioux Falls off of the scoreboard through the second period thanks in part. To Croix Kochendorfer (1-0-1) who picked up the win by stopping 25 of 27 shots and kept Sioux Falls off the scoreboard through the first two periods.
The Musketeers padded their lead with a Dylan Godbout goal at the 12:35 mark of the second period to take a 3-0 lead. Godbout was named the first star of the game as his ended up being the game winner.
Sioux Falls made it a game quickly in the third. Max Rud struck at the 1:07 mark and just 56 seconds later Clint Levens made it a one goal game.
But the Musketeers were able to drain the clock and keep the Stampede out of the net to secure the win.
The Musketeers improve to 2-3-2 on the young season. They will next hit the ice on Friday at 7:05 pm in Fargo, ND to take on the Force for a two game tilt on Friday and Saturday with both games in Fargo. Sioux City's next home game comes on November 2nd at 11:00 AM for the First Annual Empirical Foods School Day Game.
